LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A man is in custody following a standoff Tuesday afternoon at Hoover Dam.

Police said the incident started when the  man drove through a checkpoint barrier on the road that leads to the Hoover Dam parking garage. Hoover Dam was closed as police negotiated with the man.

The man was agitated, asking officers to shoot him.

All access to the dam from the Nevada side was closed and visitors and employees on the Arizona side were evacuated.

The standoff ended at 5:30 p.m. when officers drove a SWAT truck up to the man's pick-up truck, trapping him. A few minutes later, the man got out of his vehicle and surrendered.
