LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
An ordinance targeting littering on the Las Vegas Strip was approved Tuesday by the Clark County Board of Commissioners.
Under the anti-littering ordinance, the handbillers responsible for distributing small paper ads - usually for adult entertainment - will also be responsible for discarding the ads within a 25-foot radius of where they are working.
A cleanup would have to take place once every 15 minutes, according to language in the ordinance.
The ads usually end up on the sidewalk and streets, the county observed.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada had been trying to fight the ordinance, saying it isn't easily enforced and it won't stand up in court.
According to the ordinance, a violation would be a misdemeanor offense and
up to $1,000 fine or 6 months in jail.
