Henderson theater student receives national honors

HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

A Henderson student has been recognized among some of the best high school theater performers in the country.

Jason Kreitz from Liberty High School was among the top 12 performers in the nation selected to perform in the National Individual Events Showcase at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska in July. After a week-long audition process Kreitz was selected out of over 800 students from across the globe.

In the National Individual Events Showcase Auditions, students who have qualified in their state as champions are invited to audition for a showcase spot to perform their selections on the main stage at the International Thespian Festival. Only a few students are selected for this honor, nationwide.

Jason Kretiz, under the direction of Liberty Theatre Director Sharon Chadwick was selected to perform his solo musical theatre selection of "Alive" from the musical Jekyll and Hyde by Frank Wildhorn, Leslie Bricusse, and Steve Cuden. Jason received a perfect score, all superiors from a panel of 6 different judges.
