LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A North Las Vegas man convicted of causing the death of his infant daughter two years ago was scheduled to be sentenced in a Clark County court room Tuesday.
Kevin Taylor was convicted in connection to the June 2010 slaying of his one-year-old daughter, Kaitlyn.
According to NLV police, the child appeared to have had a number of traumatic injuries after authorities arrived to aid the unresponsive girl.
Taylor was arrested on suspicion of child abuse with substantial bodily harm, which later was altered to murder by child abuse after the girl died at University Medical Center.
Police said Taylor claimed to have been playing rough with the child, even tossing her against a wall lined with pillows.
When the girl was not responding, Taylor gently shook the child and then poured water on her, police said.
Taylor told police he played rough with his children so they wouldn't be taken advantage of when they're grown. At the time, he was on parole for a separate child abuse incident.
Taylor took a plea deal in the case last month.
His sentencing was scheduled for 9 a.m.
