FOX5 got an exclusive tour of the old Las Vegas city hall that will soon become the future home to online retailer Zappos.
"This is a very old building and it has a lot of interesting characteristics too. There is never a day that passes that we don't discover something that we didn't know before," said Zappos employee Zach Ware.
This will be the third move in eight years for the growing company.
"In taking over this building, we are actually spending less money than it would take to construct a large complex. We are trying to preserve the history and some of the character of the former city hall," Ware said.
FOX5 was given exclusive images of what the final workplace will look like for all 2,000 employees Zappos will accommodate.
"We are cleaning up the ground to make it a fun place for people to hangout, work, have meetings and even attend a concert. Same is true for the western side of the campus with the notion of a backyard we are creating," Ware said.
The majority of the demolition is happening in the basement where the old police department occupied. The old holding cell will be the only place Zappos will not use.
Upstairs, the layout will be open since Zappos does not have a common office layout.
