Boot Scootin' Benefit planned to aid HELP of S. Nevada

Gilley's at Treasure Island is hosting a line-dancing marathon to raise money for HELP of Southern Nevada Saturday.

Teams of up to six are able to participate in the marathon and prizes will be awarded to the best dancer, best costume, worst dancer and team that can dance the longest. Pirates and Sirens from The Sirens of TI outdoor show will be on-hand to encourage and dance along with participants during the event.

Event organizers say psychic readings and mechanical bull rides will be available. The event is open to the public from 1 to 5:00 p.m. and costs $25. Children must be at least 12-years-old to participate.

HELP of Southern Nevada operates nine departments, consists of 83 employees and serves approximately 100,000 unduplicated clients each year. HELP services provide assistance to low-income families, homeless teens and adults to become more self-sufficient through direct services, trainings and referrals. Programs available include Emergency Resources, Family Services, Weatherization, Community Alternative Sentencing, Work Opportunities Readiness Center, Holiday Assistance, Nevada 2-1-1 Call Center and Homeless and Youth Services.
