DCCC issues apology to Adelson

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Thursday apologized to Las Vegas casino mogul Sheldon Adelson for accusations it made concerning his overseas property.

In an email, the DCCC alleged the Las Vegas Sands Corporation CEO had ties to the Chinese mob and a prostitution ring. Adelson, who has donated millions to Republican Super PACs, threatened to sue the DCCC for defamation.

The Sands Corporation Thursday issued the following statement:

We are gratified that the DCCC has acknowledged (its) error. More broadly, this should serve notice to those who would attempt to smear Mr. Adelson by repeating the false and inflammatory statements of a fired employee – that this is a very slippery slope.

According to POLITICO.com, Adelson is being sued for wrongful termination by former employee Steven Jacobs, who said Adelson approved of prostitution at its China property. Adelson called the accusation outrageous.
