Apply for Henderson PD's Citizens' Academy

The Henderson Police Department is currently accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens' Academy.

The 13-week academy will meet on Tuesdays and is designed to give everyday people insight into the life and training of a Henderson police officer.

Some of the topics to be covered are as follows:

• Radio and communication training
• Community policing
• Use of force
• Gang enforcement
• Crime scene investigation
• Detention center procedures
• Criminal justice
• Domestic violence

In order to qualify, you must live in Henderson, be at least 18 years old and have no felonies, gross misdemeanors or misdemeanor convictions.

Applications may be picked up at the Main Station, 223 Lead Street; the Green Valley Substation, 300 S. Green Valley Parkway; the North Community Police Station, 225 E. Sunset Road; and the Community Relations Unit inside the Galleria at Sunset.
