LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Police are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon at Boulder Highway and Twain Avenue that involved an FBI agent.
According to FBI spokesman Patrick Turner, the agent shot a man wanted for multiple crimes in the parking lot of an Arizona Charlie's. The suspect was taken to Sunrise Hospital for treatment. He underwent surgery Thursday afternoon.
Turner said the unidentified man was wanted for "robbery with a deadly weapon and possibly a pending warrant for murder."
The suspect had been a target of the multi-agency Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) and may have shown a gun before he was shot.
Neighbors in the area reported hearing gun shots Thursday afternoon. Two neighbors said they heard as many as four pops.
"I just saw the guy laid out and his leg was moving. Then they came and picked him up," said one neighbor who did not give his name.
Investigators could be seen in and around at least one apartment in the complex, while a helicopter hovered around the scene as well. The FBI is handling the investigation, and said more details were not immediately available.
Neighbor Robert Rivas said the area around Boulder Highway and Twain has lent itself recently to plenty of appearances by law enforcement.
"It's no surprise," Rivas said. "This area has pretty much gone downhill, so all these weekly suites around here - it attracts people that are no good."
