LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Firefighters Thursday afternoon battled a two-alarm blaze at a senior apartment complex in west Las Vegas.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reported the incident on Clark Towers Court near Sahara Avenue and Valley View Boulevard about 2:18 p.m.

Investigators said an upstairs unit sustained minor heat and fire damage and the unit directly below has water damage. Damage is estimated at $15,000

No one was injured in the blaze. Investigators believe careless smoking is to blame for the fire. The occupant of the unit that sustained fire damage told investigators a mattress started on fire and when she attempted to put it out, the fire continued to grow.
