NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

The U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki is expected to dedicate the nation's newest VA medical center in North Las Vegas Monday.

The new $600 million, state-of-the-art facility is equipped with 90 inpatient beds, a 120-bed community living center with skilled nursing home care and an ambulatory care center.

The complex also offers specialty care, surgery, mental health, rehabilitation, geriatrics and extended care.

Thousands of new permanent medical jobs have been created in the new medical center.

The Department of Veteran Affairs says its part of Secretary Shinseki's plan to reach out to increase veterans' access to benefits and services, eliminate the disability claims backlog, and end veteran homelessness.

The VA Medical Center is located at 6900 North Pecos Road, near Centennial Parkway.
