Community encouraged to participate in National Night Out

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Attorney General's Office is encouraging the community to participate in 24th annual National Night Out events.

Designed to bring neighborhoods together in the fight against crime, National Night Out works to generate support and participation in local anti-crime activities. The mission of National Night Out is to empower neighborhood spirit and strengthen police-community partnerships.

"National Night Out demonstrates that with strength in numbers, we can send a forceful message to criminals," said Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. "We will stand strong with the community to assure everyone is safe from crime and drugs."

The AG's office will participate in National Night Out events in Carson City and North Las Vegas. Food and entertainment are part of the program. The North Las Vegas Police Department, Carson City Sheriff's Office and National Association of Town Watch are sponsoring the events.

Both locations will have tables set-up with information about fraud prevention, consumer protection and community prosecution.
