LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The I-15 South Design Build Project will cause some road closures overnight Thursday.
The ramp from southbound I-15 eastbound to I-215, and the ramp from the southbound access road to southbound I-15 at the I-215 eastbound ramp will be closed August 2 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on August 3.
Traffic will be detoured to Decatur Boulevard to eastbound I-215, then to southbound I-15.
A spokesperson for the project says the construction schedule is subject to change.
The I-15 South Design-Build Project stretches from Tropicana Avenue to just south of Silverado Ranch Boulevard. The project includes widening the freeway, the addition of access roads and ramps that would normally integrate with freeway traffic are instead shifted outward roads. According to officials, the weaving associated with entering and exiting the freeway is no longer in the main lanes, allowing for smoother traffic flow on the freeway.
The project includes redesigned interchanges, new bridge sections, retaining walls and sound walls.
