FAIRWAY, KS (KCTV) -

A Fairway woman was raped at her residence by a man who did work for her, according to authorities.

Jimmy Dean Crocker, 53, of Kansas City, appeared in Johnson County court Tuesday on a charge of rape. Bond was set at $100,000.

Police responded to the 5400 block of Chadwick Road at 11 a.m. on July 26. The victim is 66 years old and Crocker was a handyman for her, police said.

Fairway Police Chief Mike Fleming said Crocker targeted the woman and broke into her home.

Fairway police and the Johnson County crime lab worked the case and processed evidence. Along with testimony from the victim, Crocker was identified as the suspect, police said.

Crocker was arrested Friday in Missouri. He was extradited to Kansas.

Police stressed that the suspect and victim were not involved in any type of romantic relationship.

The woman was treated at an area hospital for her injuries, authorities said.

Crocker has been offering ministry services to Clay County inmates for the past five years. He was arrested when he showed up for the ministry last week. Crocker did not have any prior issues that stopped him from doing work through Bethesda Ministries.

Ryan Long, who lives near Crocker, said he was stunned by the allegations and skeptical about their validity. Long said Crocker often did yard work for him and other manual labor tasks.

He said he was always pleasant and social with his neighbors.

"I like Jim a lot," Long said. "I trust him as a friend. I trust him as a neighbor."
