
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library Foundation will award lots of valley readers this week.
Young readers enrolled in the Toddlers to Teens Summer Reading Program will get prizes for reading a total of more than 553,000 books this summer.
The program encourages children to read for at least 20 minutes a day to improve their literacy skills.
More than 23,700 kids participated in the summer reading program this year.
Participation was open to children from birth to 18 years old.
Prizes include "Book Bucks," a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card and a Sony WiFi eReader.
Those who participated will get their prizes today through Sunday, Aug. 5.
The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District Foundation is a nonprofit working to make the library a key community asset in learning, employment and community vitality.
