Spoiler alert: Twitter ruining the Olympics?

Posted: Updated:
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The use of social media is proving to be an obstacle for the most ardent Olympic observers in the United States.

Some viewers who elect to wait for primetime to see the marquee events played out might be spoiled of the outcome through Twitter.

Since the bigger events at the London Games take place in the morning Las Vegas time, Twitter accounts that chronicle the Olympics in real time will produce updates and results, hours before anyone in the U.S. can see it on television.

Unless those people avoid social media, the internet, television and all other forms of communication before the events air, spoiling of the events become inevitable and, as a result, could take away the excitement of the Games.

Of course, this is a new issue to the international event. Twitter was only a burgeoning medium during the last Summer Games.

Do you think Twitter spoil the suspense of the Olympics?
