Pat Skorkowsky (CCSD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Clark County School District (CCSD) Monday announced Pat Skorkowsky as its new deputy superintendent.
Skorkowsky, a 24-year CCSD veteran, replaces Pedro Martinez, who left to become the superintendent of the Washoe County School District.
Skorkowsky has served as a teacher, elementary and middle school principal, academic manager and most recently as an associate superintendent, where he worked closely with Martinez.
"Pat was a critical partner for Mr. Martinez this year in instituting our reform initiatives. He believes in the path we have taken to raise the academic bar and ensure every child is 'Ready by Exit,'" Superintendent Dwight Jones said. "Pat's professional motto is 'Every student, every classroom, without excuses, without exception.' I think that's just right."
CCSD this year improved six percent in graduation rates and students performed better in almost every subject on the Criterion-Reference Test, something Skorkowsky pledges to continue.
"I believe that CCSD is on the right track to ensure that every child is 'Ready by Exit,' and I look forward to working with our staff to continue our path of reform initiatives," Skorkowsky said. "We need to stay the course, make corrections where we need to and let the reform vision for the District take root so each and every one of our students benefit from increased academic rigor."
Skorkowsky holds a master's degree in Educational Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
