A driver charged after a crash involving a Metro motorcycle officer was attempting to enter a casino parking lot when his vehicle got in the way of the marked bike.

Jack Bradford, 45, of Washington, Utah, was arrested Saturday night after his pick-up truck collided with Las Vegas Metro Officer Michael Contreras.

According to police, Bradford was heading westbound on Lake Mead Boulevard when he was attempting a left turn at Victor Way to enter the Dotty's Casino parking lot.

The pick-up got in front of a westbound Metro officer who was on a police motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the pick-up, ejecting the officer.

Contreras was transported to University Medical Center. Police said he sustained a broken wrist and head injuries.

Bradford was arrested after failing field sobriety tests at the scene. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on charges including driving under the influence with substantial bodily harm and driving with a suspended driver's license.

A woman riding in the truck was not injured.
