LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Metro police now say two people were stabbed during a concert by the comedy rock group Tenacious D at the House of Blues Saturday. This followed initial reports that just one person had been stabbed.
Police said the stabbings started as a fight between two people in the standing-room only venue at around 9:30 p.m. At one point, 20 people were involved and police noted alcohol had a lot to do with it.
Metro police said two people were taken into custody, but neither was involved in the stabbings and they were released. Police are now interviewing concertgoers and searching for suspects.
"This isn't a joke," Tenacious D front man Jack Black told the crowd of hundreds. "Due to a serious situation, we're only playing one more song."
"Everybody cleared out a little bit and they were breaking it up - staff was, and (we asked) where's all the blood coming from and you see there's a guy with a knife in his leg," concertgoer Paul Alford said as he recalled what he saw and heard during the commotion.
Alford was nearby with his friends when they realized they were standing in a pool of blood.
"It looked like you took a gallon of blood and dumped it all over the floor. It was that much," he said.
Two stabbing victims were taken to UMC with non life-threatening injuries.
Metro police sealed off the area for about 30 minutes until Black had a conversation with someone off-stage. He returned to announce that police asked everyone to leave.
"Police are shutting it down," Black announced. "We got one more song. We're going to rock as hard as we can."
After the song titled Tribute was played, the curtain closed and concertgoers were ushered out.
"I go to concerts like twice a month," he said. "I've been to House of Blues so many times - usually they're very, very secure. We always get patted down. I got patted down that night, too."
Another concert that was scheduled to follow Tenacious D - a Steel Panther concert - was canceled so that police could finish their investigation.
FOX5 reached out to the House of Blues for their response to this stabbing, but a request for comment has not yet been returned.
