HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
Thursday afternoon's drug bust at a grow house in Henderson surprised many neighbors living on New Hope Drive.
"It started about 5:30 and SWAT members blocked off the street and told us to stay in the house," said Leann Welton, who lives a few doors down.
Two people - 29-year-old Ezekiel Parraz, a former assistant coach for CSN's baseball team and 28-year-old Candice Blackwell - were inside the home when police arrived.
"First thing we heard was the SWAT team saying, come out of the house, we know you are in there," said another neighbor who did not want to be identified.
When the pair did not come out, police took action.
"They threw in a flash bang (grenade) and a couple of minutes later they had people in cuffs and out they came," Welton said.
"This is a rental property and they had no concern (about) how they treated the inside. This property is destroyed," said Metro Narcotics Lt. Laz Chavez.
Inside the home police found 186 plants, chemicals, weigh scales and black mold. The marijuana has a street value of about $560,000.
While Welton never met the pair, she knows others on the street who did.
"Everybody said they had talked to them and they were nice people, but everybody had said they thought something was up," Welton said.
The pair were arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center. They have since made bail and have been released. Both Parraz and Blackwell are scheduled to be back in court Monday
