Athletes donating medals to young patients

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Some special children are receiving medals for being brave when facing challenges in their life.

Medal4Mettle is a nonprofit organization that facilitates the gift of giving kids with chronic or debilitating illnesses a medal won by marathon and triathlon finishers.

It's taking place at Sunrise Children Hospital, in the main lobby and fourth floor Friday at 1 p.m.

The organization believes these children might not be able to run in a race but are in a race of their own to live their life.
