HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

A former College of Southern Nevada assistant baseball coach was arrested Thursday after police raided a marijuana grow house in Henderson.

Ezekiel Parraz, 29, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and intent to sell.

Police said officers confiscated 186 plants from the home on New Hope Drive, near Warm Springs Road and Arroyo Grande Boulevard. The house is just south of Green Valley High School, where Parraz was a standout baseball player.

He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics from the University of Las Vegas, Nevada in 2005, but did not reach the major leagues.

Parraz later found work with the College of Southern Nevada, but the school released a statement Friday saying his employee contract had expired.

Police said Parraz was renting the home with 28-year-old Candice Blackwell. She was also arrested and taken to the Clark County Detention Center.

A neighbor who talked to FOX5 said the activity at the home was "suspicious." Complaints of a strong marijuana odor at the property sparked the investigation, according to police.
