Metro police seek help capturing on-camera killer

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro police have released surveillance video of a fatal stabbing in downtown Las Vegas on June 21 because they have few clues as to a suspect or motive.

Surveillance video captured the murder of a man walking on a sidewalk on Baltimore Boulevard. His killer walks out of an alleyway and stabs him to death.

"We don't know what the motivation was - did he know this person from a third-party relationship?" said Metro's Officer Marcus Martin. "Was it just a vicious random attack?"

The video isn't the best quality, but it's the only thing Metro police said they have on the attack outside the Stupack Community Center.

The victim, 54-year-old Louis James Kim of Las Vegas, died at University Medical Center.

Although the suspect is barely seen in the video, police said there are clues that witnesses can look out for to help lead them to the killer.

"Look at the mannerisms, the way this person walks," said Martin.

"It's a shame there's a crazy lunatic running around and nobody has a clue about his whereabouts," said Micki Ramirez, who lives in the area. "It's just ridiculous."

Residents admit it's not the best neighborhood but police have cleaned it up in past years. Ramirez hopes the killer doesn't come back.

"That's what scares me," said Ramirez. "It could have been me and nobody would even know the difference."

At the time, the suspect was wearing dark-colored clothing, including black shorts with a light stripe on the leg. He was last seen running toward the 7-11 on East Boston Avenue.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
