LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
"I couldn't believe what was happening. The person that claimed to always love and protect me - why was that person hurting me so much?" said Maria Robles from her UMC hospital bed.
She described the moments when her husband, 37-year-old Alejandro Lopez, allegedly forced his way into her home and attacked her early Saturday morning.
"He stabbed me three times on the left side of my chest and twice on the other side. Thank God I had my iPod and my cell phone inside my clothing," Robles said.
Away from her husband, Robles said she is grateful to be alive. She said she's receiving the medical attention to heal everything but her broken heart.
"He stabbed my son twice in the back. He has two cuts on his hand. By then, my babysitter had called 911 and that's when Alejandro ran to the backyard. He stood in a place where he said we could all see him commit suicide and blamed me for everything," Robles said.
When North Las Vegas police arrived to the scene, they were able to detain Lopez. A total of six other children were also in the home unharmed.
"I tried to push him away but he cut me all over and I dropped to the floor from all the pain I felt," Robles said. "I don't want him to get out of prison. He needs to be in there for many years because I fear when he gets out he will finish what he started."
A fund has been set up for Robles and her children. You can make a contribution at any Wells Fargo bank under the name Maria Robles, account No. 7863101858.
