United States military veterans will be able to seek the help they need transitioning into a civilian life thanks to the opening of a downtown Las Vegas facility.

Veteran's Village on Las Vegas Boulevard, south of Charleston Boulevard, officially opened its doors Tuesday to provide veterans the amenities they need to seek educational, nutritional and occupational opportunities.

The facility is housed out of a retrofitted former motel.

"The former Econo Lodge Motel has been refurbished and will provide a safe, clean and affordable transitional residence for our United States Veteran," according to Arnold Stalk, co-founder of Veteran's Village.

In addition, a number of organizations has partnered with Veteran's Village to provide assistance to complete a transition into civilian life.

Those organizations include the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; HELP of Southern Nevada; US Vets; Three Square Regional Food Bank; East Valley Family Services; and Regional Transportation Commission.

As for individual residences, amenities include fully furnished rooms, on-site laundromat and access to a full kitchen.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman was on hand for the ribbon cutting.
