LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas dentist and his office manager Monday pleaded guilty to health insurance fraud.

Dentist Mauricio Vargas, 50, and his office manager, Enoc Adrian Renteria, 33, face up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for billing Laborer's Union 872 for dental work that was never performed.

Vargas, who operated AV Dental in Las Vegas, and Renteria conspired with an employee of the union's medical/dental insurance administrator to submit false billing claims.

Vargas paid bribes to the unnamed employee to submit the false claims. Vargas deposited nearly 210,000 into a bank account he operated.

Vargas and Renteria are scheduled to be sentenced on October 17, 2012.
