Despite tragedy, Southern Nevadans are going to the movies

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

For comic film fans across the Las Vegas valley, this is a bittersweet weekend to go to the movies.

One of worst massacres in American history now coincides with the release of one of this year's biggest summer block busters.

While movie goers feel horrible about the Aurora shootings, some feel the actions of one man shouldn't stop the nation from seeing The Dark Knight Rises.

"Just because there's one looney, doesn't mean everybody is a looney," said Andy Bodkin who was wearing a batman shirt outside the Cinedome Theaters in Henderson.

While Ken Maestas is also a Batman fan that wouldn't be deterred from coming to the film, he knows others who feel different about the film.

"There's a couple of friends and relatives who don't want to go. They're like kind of nervous about what's going on and stuff," Maestas told FOX5.

To ease those fears, LVMPD officers were placed at several theaters, including at the Regal Village Square Stadium, Palms Casino and Orleans Casino on Saturday.
