Jessica Ghawi, a 24-year-old sportswriter and blogger, is 1 of 12 people who lost their lives inside theater 9 in Aurora, CO.
According to her brother Jordan, who took his emotions to his blog and wrote about the conversation he had with Brent Lowek, Jessica's friend who survived the shooting:
"Jessica and Brent were seated in the middle portion of the theatre when a device was thrown into the theatre that produced a "hissing" sound. At that time, shots were fired. Brent then heard Jessica scream and noticed that she was struck. It was at this time that Brent took a round to his lower extremities. He advised that he looked over to Jessica and saw what appeared to be an entry wound to her head."
"They found a fragment in the shoulder. Which means it went through his body up to his shoulders. It missed the vitals thank God, so he is doing ok," said Dan Greene, Brent's stepfather.
Online, Twitter posts went from excitement to fear in minutes.
"Going to see the final batman tonight! So EXCITED!!!" @DjaylaRene
"Everything keeps replaying in my head. It was so unreal," @DjaylaRene
Alex Sullivan was another person confirmed to be inside the movie theater. His whereabouts are unknown.
A Facebook account has been created under the name Aurora Theater Shooting where survivors have been using the social media outlet to communicate.
Those who survived are now questioning the evil that unfolded in front of their eyes.
All I could think was if I stand up he is going to shoot because that's what he was doing. I was thinking, how was I going to get my kids out of there," said Patricia Legarreta as she held her baby.
