LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A female inmate who is serving a life sentence at a Las Vegas corrections facility attempted an escape Friday morning, officials said.
According to the Nevada Department of Corrections, Brookey West tried to escape from the McClure Women's Correctional Center about 6:30 a.m.
West was able to disguise her appearance and clothing but was recognized by staff while passing through a security gate, officials said.
Officials said she was detained and taken to a secure housing area.
West is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for first degree murder. She was convicted in Clark County.
