LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

FOX5 has learned Metro homicide detectives have located the mother of an infant left in a Las Vegas apartment complex trash bin Thursday.

Police said it appears the mother, a juvenile, hid the pregnancy from friends and family and gave birth at home. Police believe the infant, a female, was born about a month ago. It's not known if the child was born alive or was stillborn. That will be determined by the Clark County coroner.

Police also believe the mother hid the child's body in her residence until placing it in the trash bin.

No arrests have yet been made in the case.

Police received a call that the infant's body had been found in a trash bin by a maintenance worker at the Rancho Mesa apartment complex on Rancho Drive near Cheyenne Avenue just after 8 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (702)-385-5555.
