Henderson Little League's 12 & under team is headed to the state championships in Elko on July 1 for the first time in league history.
The team, made up of 11 and 12 year olds, will represent District 2 when they play Elko-area District 3 for the state title.
"I can't tell you how many times we've come in second since the league was founded 25 years ago," said Robert Nelson, Henderson Little League's sponsorship coordinator. "This means so much for these kids."
If the team wins in Elko, it will travel to San Bernardino, CA in early August for the Western District tournament. District champions will participate in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, VA in late August.
Henderson Little League dedicated this season to Cody Clark, 19, a former player who was diagnosed with bone cancer earlier this year. Clark recently had his leg amputated and is undergoing physical therapy.
Dollar Loan Center donated $10,000 to offset the nearly $1,000 per player cost of the tournament.
