Photos provided by a neighbor who claimed two teens drowned kittens in a cup.
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Two 16-year-old boys accused of drowning kittens in a cup of water are expected to enter pleas Tuesday on animal cruelty charges.
The teens - who are not being identified due to their ages - are scheduled to make those pleas about 11 a.m. in Clark County Family Court.
The juveniles have been in custody since last month when photographs of the alleged drownings surfaced. The photos were taken by a neighbor who accused the boys of the act.
The teens contend the kittens were born to a feral cat and they were "humanely" euthanizing the small felines.
In the midst of court proceedings, a judge ordered a psychological evaluation for the two.
This could be the first to be prosecuted under a Nevada law that makes the killing of animals like dogs and cats a felony.
A demonstration protesting the boys' alleged act was also planned just before their court appearance Tuesday. Animal rights advocates said they want justice to be served in the case.
