LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
UNLV football is bringing in a Nevada sports legend to do radio play-by-play.
Russ Langer has been announced as the new voice. The seven-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year is currently calling games for the Las Vegas 51s and serves as their director of broadcasting.
"We are very pleased to welcome Russ to the Rebel family," said UNLV Director of Athletics Jim Livengood. "IMG College did a thorough search to find a new radio play-by-play voice for our football program and while there were a number of great candidates, ultimately the best option was already on the air right here in Las Vegas. We think Russ and Mike will make a sensational broadcast team."
Langer will be joined in the broadcast booth by Mike Pritchard and will also serve as co-host of The Bobby Hauck Radio Show, scheduled to air live from Born and Raised lounge each week during the season.
"It is a genuine privilege to accept the broadcasting position for Rebel football," Langer said. "UNLV is an important part of the fabric of Las Vegas, and I am deeply honored to become a part of it. My heartfelt thanks go out to the outstanding individuals at IMG and the University who helped to make this possible."
