ELKO, NV (FOX5) -
Despite steep inaccessible terrain and erratic winds, firefighters are expected to fully contain a lightning-sparked blaze in northeast Nevada as early as Saturday.
The Bureau of Land Management said the 20-Mile Fire was first called in about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The wildfire is located 15 miles northwest of Montello, Nev. near the border with Utah.
As of Friday, the fire had already scorched at least 12,000 acres and was only five percent contained.
Meteorologists reported sustained winds at 40 miles per hour with gusts of up to 60 mph.
About 60 firefighters were called to fight the blaze.
Officials did not say if any structures were being threatened.
