Shots fired at northwest Vegas apartment complex

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex in the northwest part of the city Tuesday.

Police said the incident was reported at Pirate's Cove Apartments near N. Buffalo Drive and Summerlin Parkway just after 6:30 a.m.

According to Metro, a man had knocked on a resident's door looking for help, saying someone was trying to kill him. Police did not specify that person's involvement in the situation.

Arriving officers were able to locate a victim in the shooting, but police said he was not injured in the incident.

At least three people were detained, although police did not specify their involvement.

Police noted the people responsible for the shooting fled the scene.

Investigators said the shooting may have started due to an argument or disagreement of some sort. An investigation is ongoing.

Officers briefly shut down Buffalo Drive during an investigation. The roadway has since reopened.
