PAHRUMP, NV (FOX5) -
Two deputies in Pahrump engaged in a gunfight when a suspect they were seeking shot at them, the Nye County Sheriff's office said.
The suspect – Edward Garza, 55 – was transported to University Medical Center after he was shot by deputies Summer Dannecker and Wes Fancher on June 30.
The sheriff's office said the deputies engaged the man about 2:30 p.m. in the front yard of a residence on Manse Road.
Garza initiated the shooting, investigators said.
The suspect has since been released from the hospital and booked into the Nye County Sheriff's Detention Center on $500,000 bail.
He faces charges including two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer.
Both deputies were placed on paid administrative leave.
