LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Las Vegas man accused in the "Mustache Bandit" hold-ups of sandwich shops and electronics stores in the south end of the city was in court Friday after refusing to appear for his initial hearing twice.
Troy Mullner, 45, refused to appear for an 8 a.m. hearing earlier Friday, a day after he did the same for his originally scheduled appearance.
A Las Vegas Justice Court judge ordered him to appear. Mullner is currently in custody at Clark County Detention Center.
His initial court appearance was related to charges connected to a rash of robberies perpetrated by a suspect police nicknamed the "Mustache Bandit."
Robbery Section Lt. Ron Fox said officers from Southwest Command recognized Mullner as the man fitting the description of the "Mustache Bandit." Mullner was arrested after he was stopped and questioned about the robberies, Fox said.
Mullner faces a total of 39 charges, including multiple counts of robbery, robbery with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, burglary and burglary with a deadly weapon in at least nine incidents.
His bail was set at $350,000. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for July 20.
Police also said the suspect in the robberies may have had a getaway driver, but that person has yet to be identified.
