Captain Patrick Moers (City of Henderson)
HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
The next chief of Henderson Police could be a 20-year veteran of the department. On Thursday, FOX5 confirmed the Henderson city manager has selected the department's Captain Patrick Moers as the new chief of police.
If approved, Moers will replace Jutta Chambers, who announced her retirement in February, less than two weeks after the videotaped beating of a motorist was made public and the city was forced to pay out a six-figure settlement.
Moers is a Chicago native who has been with the department since 1991.
Moers has served as a field training officer, department training instructor and patrol officer. He has additionally worked in the Criminal Investigations Division, where he supervised the property crimes section and crimes against persons section.
Currently the East Patrol commander, Moers was promoted to captain in 2009.
Henderson City Council will vote on Moers' appointment on July 17.
