LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A man crossing Boulder Highway near the Eastside Cannery Casino was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver late Tuesday night.
Las Vegas Metro police reported the collision just before 11 p.m. on Boulder, south of Harmon Avenue.
According to investigators, the 50-year-old victim was crossing the roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when he struck by a 2004 Nissan Sentra.
The victim lost a leg on impact and was transported to Sunrise Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the driver, identified as 44-year-old David Nieto, drove away from the scene. He was stopped further down the road and arrested on driving under intoxication and hit and run charges.
The accident was the 63rd traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
