LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Clark County Family Court judge on Monday ordered two 16-year-old boys to remain in jail until a July 17 hearing on animal cruelty charges.
The teens – who are not being identified due to their ages - are accused of drowning kittens in a cup of water.
Both are expected to enter a plea at their next hearing. The boys were also ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation while in custody at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
The two could be the first people prosecuted under a new law that makes a charge of animal cruelty a felony.
Should the two teens be tried as adults? You can weigh-in on The Rant page or on Facebook.
