LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

An investigation is under way into what caused a woman to fall to her death on the Las Vegas Strip.

The body of 46-year-old Lisa DeMaria was found Tuesday afternoon at the MGM Grand Resort. It's believed she fell 35 stories.

Police have not said if they suspect drugs or alcohol.

According to a search warrant furnished to FOX5 by the office of the Nevada Secretary of State, DeMaria had earlier been charged for securities fraud and theft by the Nevada Attorney General.

She had been scheduled to appear for a status check in May but never showed up. It's believed DeMaria was staying at the MGM under an alias and was in possession of materials showing she was still involved in fraud.
