LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A Metro officer was injured Thursday evening while responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment near Decatur Boulevard and Rancho Drive.
It happened around 6 p.m. Metro said officers arrived after a son attacked his mother during an argument. In the chaos, an officer fell and suffered a head injury.
Police said the son barricaded himself inside the home while his mother escaped through the back porch.
"They pull the lady from the apartment and she fell from the little wall across from over there," witness Alan Ramirz recalled. "More and more cops came and the guy, he just ran inside, locked the door. The cops tried to get after him."
The son eventually surrendered and was arrested. His mother was taken to a hospital for treatment. The Metro officer is expected to recover.
