LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, its Fatal Detail team has concluded its investigation and no charges will be filed against the Clark County School District bus driver involved in the accident that took the life of 11-year-old Kaylee Derks back in March.

The Dean Allen Elementary School student died when the bus she had just gotten off struck her near the intersection of Ann Road and Pebble Rock Drive on March 16.

Leslie Rice, the person who was operating the school bus at the time, was a replacement driver who was unfamiliar with the bus route, Clark County School District officials said.

Rice was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, CCSD added.

The school district also noted that it would change the bus route involved in the accident but keep the bus stop where Kaylee died. The district had heard suggestions from parents to move the stop off the busy area and onto a private road, but that is prohibited by CCSD policy, officials said.
