Former UNLV Runnin' Rebel Joel Anthony Thursday night became the third player from the men's basketball program to win an NBA championship as a postseason roster member.
The Heat defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106 in Miami to secure the second championship for the franchise.
Anthony appeared in 17 playoff games this year, logging 19 minutes per game. He played in 64 games during the regular season, getting 51 starts.
Former Rebel Shawn Marion won a championship with Dallas last year and John Trapp won with the Los Angeles Lakers back in 1972.
While with the Rebels during the 2004-05 and 2006-07 seasons, Anthony helped take the Rebels to the Sweet 16 in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
