LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A 39-year-old California woman who died in a vehicle rollover on Interstate 15 was not wearing a seat belt in Wednesday's wreck, Nevada Highway Patrol noted.
NHP released details Thursday of a preliminary investigation detailing the rollover accident of a 2006 silver Dodge sport-utility vehicle on I-15 near St. Rose Parkway.
At about 12:15 p.m., the vehicle was in the far left lane of the northbound interstate when the left rear tire was damaged. The driver applied the brakes, causing it to rotate through the right adjacent lanes.
The SUV then enter the shoulder and began overturning, coming to rest outside the interstate.
Blanca P. Estela, of Santa Ana, Calif., who was sitting in the third row of the SUV, died at the scene.
A 9-year-old girl who was also sitting in the third row was critically injured and air-lifted to University Medical Center.
Four other people in the vehicle suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to UMC, as well.
An investigation is ongoing into the wreck.
