HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

Officials said the cause of a two-alarm blaze that erupted at a Henderson apartment complex under construction may be suspicious.

Henderson Fire reported the blaze at 4:21 a.m. Wednesday at a work site located on Wigwam Parkway between Stephanie Street and Gibson Road.

Firefighters arrived to find two, 2-story, 16-unit apartment buildings in the wood framing stage of construction in flames. Flames had spread quickly to a third building, officials said.

No injuries were reported, but the three units were destroyed.

Crews from Henderson and Clark County fire departments needed about an hour to put out the fire and keep it from jumping to other units. Arson investigators were called to the scene.

While the investigation continues, some neighbors, like Bernie Recenello, have come to their own conclusions.

"I can't imagine it not being arson, I mean how could clean wood like that just go up in flames," Recenello told FOX5.

Management for the construction site reported an estimated loss of $1 million, Henderson fire said.

The fire shut down Wigwam for some time but was reopened later in the morning.
