HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -
First lady Michelle Obama made a campaign stop in Henderson Tuesday.
An estimated 1,000 people listened to the first lady urge them to get involved in a grassroots effort to re-elect her husband.
Obama said that's how they did it four years ago and that's how they're going to have to do it again.
Obama focused on the middle class, saying an economy built to last starts with the middle class.
"We're here because we want to restore that basic middle class security for all of our families," Obama said.
She added that it starts with taxes, noting the president has pushed for tax cuts for working families and small businesses.
"We believe that everyone should do their fair share, but play by the same rules," Obama said.
As she stressed for people to campaign for her husband, the push was to talk up Nevada issues, including job growth and foreclosures.
"You can tell them that, because of the program's he announced here in Nevada last year, families across this state have been able to refinance their mortgages and keep their homes and keep more money in their pockets each month," Obama said.
The first lady also touched on college education, saying it's important for every child to have a chance to succeed and not rack up massive debt doing it, saying the president's plan is, by the end of this decade, to have more Americans with college degrees than any other country.
