LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
KVVU FOX5 garnered five Emmy awards when the Pacific Southwest Chapter of the National Television Academy announced winners on June 16.
The regional award ceremony honors work done on the air over the last year.
FOX5 won in the Team Coverage category for "Tragedy On the Track," a special newscast detailing the death of IndyCar racer Dan Wheldon at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Oct. 2011.
The win garnered awards for producer Tescily Maguire, reporters Doug Johnson and Matt DeLucia, and anchors Elizabeth Watts and Jon Castagnino.
DeLucia also grabbed two other awards for News Writing and Journalistic Enterprise.
Anchor John Huck and photojournalist Joseph Lybarger won for their story, "Tracking Truants," in the Education Story/Series category.
FOX5 also received an award for Best News Promotion done by producer-editors Toni Forster and John Finn.
FOX5 multi-media journalist Christian Cazares won in the Business/Consumer story category for work he did for KGTV in San Diego.
