LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Firefighters battled an apartment fire on East Stewart Avenue near Nellis Boulevard on Sunday night.

Clark County Fire told FOX5 smoke and flames were visible at Universe Sunrise Mountain Apartments upon arrival before 10 p.m.

There were no injuries as a result of this fire.

The American Red Cross was called to help three people from two different units who were displaced as a result of the fire.

Damage is estimated at $40,000 for both units impacted by the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities, though, believe it may be cooking-related.

Officials say 23 percent of household fires in Clark County originate in kitchens. The public is being urged to take caution and never leave cooking food unattended.
