Tracey Kauffman (LVMPD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The Tennessee man who pleaded guilty in the slaying of a former lover at a Las Vegas bar was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.
Tracey Kauffman, 50, was given the sentenced in a Las Vegas courtroom on June 12 in connection to the shooting death of Phil Wells.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Kauffman was the gunman who shot Wells at The Garage, a gay-themed bar, located on Flamingo Road near Maryland Parkway in the early morning hours of Nov. 14, 2011.
Kauffman walked in the bar, confronted Wells and shot him about 15 times, police said.
Kauffman told police he had flown to Las Vegas the week before, angry that Wells had taken advantage of him, according to an arrest report.
Earlier this year, Kauffman pleaded guilty to a charge of first degree murder with a deadly weapon.
